

The new Microman series was divided into two distinct lines - the Magne Powers series and the Replica Microman series.

(Microman 21 series was produced under license by Romando). In 1999, Takara, for the first time since 1984, produced new Microman toys. All of the Microman toys used 5 mm connectors and ports, which allowed parts from one toy to be attached to another toy to form new toys. The cyborg beings were said to hail from the fictional planet Micro Earth, and to disguise themselves as toys. Unlike other toylines at the time, Microman figures were marketed as being the "actual" size of the cyborg beings they were meant to be replicas of. Microman Zone proved to be popular and by its second year, the Microman line was spun off from the "Henshin Cyborg" line. The first series, Microman Zone, included four figures and several vehicles in kit form that needed to be assembled. Since both the cost of producing and the large size of the vehicles and playsets for the 12" dolls were prohibitive, in 1974 Takara decided to produce a miniature version of the Henshin Cyborg line which was called Microman.


The body of the Henshin Cyborg was molded in clear plastic to expose the gleaming inner cybernetic implants and the "atomic engine". Joe figures that Takara licensed from Hasbro. This test market assortment consisted of figures licensed from the PS1 game 'Tatsunoko Fight.' This first set of figures got re-released at mass retail in February 2004. This subline started off as a limited text market run in May of 2003, along with the Micro Force figures. The Micro Action Series is a subline of the 2003 Microman line based around figures of licensed characters. This series introduced a new female body mold. The Microsister figures use a new smaller female mold. They are only loosely compatible with the 1999 Microman figures, using the Magnemo 8 system instead of Magnemo 11.Īll four Road Spartan vehicles combine into the Road Spartan Formation.ĪcroEmperor combines with the accessories of all four figures to become AcroWyvern. These figures utilize Takara's Magnemo joints. Unfortunately, the US versions are infamous for their poor quality control. The US releases came with a special promotional DVD showcasing other Microman products. This wave was released in the US, exclusive to KB Toys, in April 2005. All four Biomachine vehicles can combine into the Bio-Suit. Initially released in May of 2003 as a limited test-market release, along with the first five Micro Action Series releases, the Micro Force figures were re-released in a much larger production run in February 2004.
